So before I left the hospital they checked my blood pressure and it was a tad high but they wanted me to be able to leave so they sent me home with a blood pressure monitor and told me to check my blood pressure a few times a day. I'm supposed to record them and if they are too high, to call my Midwives. I got home Sunday evening and by Tuesday I'm concerned, I've had almost only high readings. So I call my Midwives. They have me come in that day. So after my daughter's first digits appointment we head to my midwives.
When I get there they check my blood pressure and it's high. Then they ask me about my vision, and headaches and of course I've had some headaches and a little blurred vision. So now we are told to go back into the hospital. I've barely been home, I've spent my whole day bouncing between doctors offices and now I'm being told to head back into the hospital. Not to mention when we got home Sunday both our parents had to come see the baby, and my Monday was spent with my MIL at my house so I could try to get some sleep after days of sleep deprivation. I haven't had any time with just us and June.
At this point me and my husband pack our stuff and June's and head to the hospital. They run a bunch of tests and I have to be admitted because I have postpartum preeclampsia. They are gonna do a 24 hour magnesium drip. Which is basically like being drunk for 24 hours. But this means another long hospital stay. I'm being told if I don't do it that I'm at risk for strokes and seizures.
This time when I'm admitted I'm in a different wing. A wing that is usually only pregnant women. But here I am with a 5 day old baby in a wing meant for pregnant women. Luckily I'm allowed to have baby stay with me as long as my husband or some other adult is there incase shit hits the fan. Honestly this trip wasn't as bad because the nurses all tried so hard to be quiet and to not come in too often so me and baby could get sleep, but I'm still breastfeeding and I still have a tiny human who is gonna wake often and is very fussy.
After the 24 hours is up they tell me that they have to monitor me for a few hours, and don't want to release me at 2am. So they are gonna keep me over night and release me in the morning. By 10 am on Thursday we are headed home. I'm now on high blood pressure medicine and I have to monitor my blood pressure 3 times a day, but I'm free again.
Fast forward a month and I did a follow up appointment where they took me off the meds, just for me to have some high blood pressure readings days later. So I ended up back on the pills and am currently still on them 4 months postpartum.
